A Journaler's Dream

This attractive ice-seagreen polished resin pen is crafted for journalers who want an expressive writing instrument without sacrificing everyday usability. A contemporary Century 100, not exactly a 'pocket pen,' feels substantial in the hand (posted or not) is fitted with a scarce 0.6 German steel alloy stub nib from the renowned top-tier European nib maker, Nemosine (Berlin-based) … then deftly tuned, touched up, and polished in our Stone Pen Workshop. It offers a writing experience that is both distinctive and dependable.

Many nib makers (stub and italic) offer 1.1 mm grind and up; however, stylish and modern everyday writers shy away from ornamental lettering and find the 0.6 mm stub provides just enough line variation to give handwriting personality, turning ordinary notes and daily entries into something a little more artful. It rewards good penmanship with elegant contrast between thick and thin strokes, while still remaining readable and practical for journaling, note-taking, and thoughtful writing.

Unlike a plain fine nib, this stub has a more italic-like character, making each word feel deliberate and refined. Yet it stays forgiving in use, gliding smoothly across the page as you lay down your thoughts. The result is a pen that feels uniquely yours: smooth, expressive, and well-suited to the rhythm of everyday writing.

Price: $115.00 (135.00) Includes gift box presentation, a 'mystery' 2ml ink sample, and complimentary USA shipping.

The Blue Teal Pen

This 1.1 German nib italic cursive stub resides in a straightforward, unbranded Far Eastern fountain pen build, chosen for how it looks and writes, not for a logo on the clip. It's well-balanced, whether posted or unposted, rests comfortably in the hand for long writing sessions, and holds enough ink for journaling, planning, or taking notes without constantly refilling. The design is traditional, so the real attention stays on the page and on the line the nib puts down, not just on flashy trim.

By pairing this dependable body with a German #5 nib that we grind, tune, and test write here at Stone Pen Workshop, you’re paying for what you actually feel every day: the way the pen starts, how it glides, and how your handwriting looks.

Steel, Geometry, and Craft At the heart of the pen is a German-made Nemosine No. 5 stainless steel alloy nib that we reshape into a fine cursive stub. The stainless steel blank is thicker and stiffer than most generic steel nibs, so the tines stay aligned and don't slowly spread or flex out of tune. That controlled hardness lets us grind the tipping into a precise edge that gives you broad, shaded downstrokes and fine cross strokes without scratchiness, skipping, or surprise "soft spots." Each nib is inspected and aligned under magnification, filled with ink only once for lubricated testing, ground and polished through multiple grits, and then test written on paper with real ink here in our Daytona Beach workshop.

Jinhao 159 Edison #6 nib by JoWo Germany

At Stone Pen Workshop, every pen begins where the factory leaves off. This Jinhao 159 in burnt orange has a bold, substantial, high-gloss body with the proportions of a classic oversized pen (49 g.) and is fitted with an German-souced Edison #6 1.1 nib - hand-reground by our dedicated in-house craftsman, tuned and hand-polished.

The result is an Edison nib that lays down a thin, precise cross-stroke and a broader, expressive down-stroke. This complex geometry rewards careful writers and transforms everyday handwriting into something worth noticing.

The Edison #6 with a 1.1 Stub Nib is a German-made JoWo nib blank... then at Edison (before it comes to us), individually ground, aligned, tuned, polished, and purposefully tested in their workshop, not on a production line. Every critical detail has been checked and adjusted:

Tine spacing for consistent ink flow, edge rounding so the nib starts immediately without hesitation, and tip geometry calibrated for both slow, deliberate letterforms and a faster, more natural note-taking pace.

A stub nib is sort of the opposite of a fine nib. It’s ground flat and wider where the nib touches paper, so that you get line variations depending on the angle you are writing at. It’s closer to something like a calligraphy nib, and you can get some pretty nice swoops and lines with practice. When done well, the pen responds to the angle of your hand, varying line weight naturally as you write, without any additional effort or technique on your part. Good for note-taking, journaling, and note-writing,

Vermillion Red & Black 1.1mm Stub Nib

Our workshop overlooks the Halifax River and the barrier reef which separates us from the Atlantic in Daytona Beach, Florida. Stone Pen Workshop modified this Jinhao 82 in Vermillion Red & Black, swapping out the stock nib for a Nemosine #5, hand-grinding it to 1.1 mm, made by JoWo in Berlin, Germany.

Most fountain pens ship from a factory floor where nobody writes with them… this one left a workshop where someone spent days on it.

Oscar, our dedicated nib craftsman, took this Jinhao 82 and replaced the stock nib with a German Nemosine 1.1mm #5 steel stub, then ground it on whetstones and mylar to create clean, controlled line variation, firm on the upstroke, expressive across the page.

He aligned the tines for proper ink flow, checked everything under magnification, micro-polished the tip, and then wrote with it until it passed the final inspection. It's a craft to hand-tune, hand-test, and get fountain pens ready to write.

The brand on the cap doesn't matter here. What matters is that our expert prepared this pen the way most manufacturers never bother to because they produce at scale. We don't.

Naginata Togi Nib Fountain Pen

At Stone Pen Workshop, we swapped out the factory nib for our refined Naginata Togi nib (hand-tuned, hand-tested, and ready to write). Our Naginata Togi nib pairs well in an x350 highly polished black pen giving you a nib that has been individually ground, aligned, tuned, polished, and tested by our dedicated craftsman, not a production line nib.

Every critical detail is checked and adjusted tine alignment, ink flow, and edge rounding so the pen starts easily, resists skipping, and feels confident whether you write slowly and deliberately or at a faster, note-taking pace. It is ground in such a way that it writes with varying degrees of line thickness based on your writing angle; it writes with a thin downstroke and a thicker cross stroke. This complex grind is something few nib crafters can achieve.

The Naginata Togi nib lays down a smooth, consistent line that works beautifully with all types of speciality inks, from shading and sheen to shimmer and intense saturation. It handles the subtle variations in ink behavior with ease, letting the character of each ink shine through without sacrificing flow or control. This versatility makes the Togi nib is an excellent choice for anyone wanting a nib that can keep up with their creative explorations.
